Prof. Renzo Rosso

Born in Genoa, Italy, on November 17, 1950

Current Position

Full professor of Water Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano since 1986.

1975 Distinguished graduate in Hydraulic Engineering at the University of Genoa

1968-1971 Instructor (Hydraulics) in ENSEEIHT, Toulouse, France

1975 Assistant Professor at the University of Genova

1977-1981 Research scientist and project leader at the Institute for Research on Hydrogeological Protection of Southern Italy, National Research Council of Italy

Research scientist and project leader at the University of Florence

1982-1985 Research Associate

1988-1992 He was also Professor in-charge at the University of Parma

Since 1986 Member of the scientific committee of the Doctoral Programme in Hydraulic Engineering

Since 1987 Director of the International Postgraduate Programme in Hydrology and Water Resources Management at the Politecnico di Milano

Since 1991 Partner of the EC Interuniversity Cooperation Programme in Hydrology and Water Resources within the ERASMUS framework

Since 1993 Member of AGU Committee on Surface Hydrology

He also served as reviewer of several distinguished journals (e.g., Water Resour. Res., J. Hydrol. Sci., J. Hydrol., Geoph. Res. Lett., Phys. Rev. Lett.) and as a committee member for national and international scientific agencies, (EC, NATO, NERC-UK, MURST- and CNR-Italy).

He is author or co-author of more than 150 published scientific contributions, including papers in international reviewed journals, conference and workshop papers, review papers, invited reports, and edited books. His contributions deal with hydrologic modelling, fluvial geomorphology, field hydrology, water resource systems analysis and planning, reliability analysis, urban hydrology, stochastic processes, non-linear dynamics and fractals.
